The warmth of a fire

The warmth of a fire

Nothing compares to the warm welcome of a real fire. As well as providing a source of heat it creates a feeling of comfort & cosiness quite unlike anything else. That’s why these days more and more people are coming home to the warmth of a ‘living flame’.

Open Fire

The open fire is the traditional method of heating a dwelling and is still by far the most popular form of real fire. The open fire provides heat for your home by direct radiation. Modern open fires are cleaner and more fuel efficient than in the past.

The design of the fire opening is open to choice. The standard opening is 600mm wide. Larger fire openings can be created but you need to be careful to choose the correct flue diameter.

Sealed Room Heaters/Multi-Fuel Stoves

Again there is a wide variety of appliance to choose from. Most room heaters burn a variety of solid fuel – wood, turf and coal. The fire is visible through a glazed door which is generally used for refuelling. There are also boiler and non-boiler options available.

Both types require a class 1 or multi fuel flue to allow the combustion gases to escape safely to the atmosphere.
